ABOUT RYAN SONG

AS AN ARTIST

I am Ryan Song (Shuang Song), a 28-year-old performing queer artist/singer/Songwriter/Arranger/Co-Producer originally from China. After I finished my Bachelor of Music in China, I moved to The Netherlands to search for more opportunities in 2017. with the help of Popacademie of ArtEZ, I built my own music team and my style of music started developing towards electronic groovy pop/dance and soulful R&B as it sounds today. I am dedicated to embodying equality, diversity, and inclusivity in my music and am inspired by artists like Charlie Puth, Beyonce, and The Weeknd.

After my debut album era in 2019, I performed at the Dutch Showcase music festival “Booster Festival 2020”. My singles release project is “The Unexpected 2020”. The electronic synth, groovy bass, the funky guitar can absolutely be representative of Ryan Song!

Between 2020 and 2021, I made my Dutch Radio and TV debut airplay and performance on Booster Festival, NPO3FM, SBS6, and No Man’s Land Festival 2021. I have received more than half a million streams on Spotify. And what is more exciting, my new EP is coming in 2023!

AS A TEACHER

A part of being a musician, an artist, I am also a pop music teacher. In recent years, I have worked at the Art Academy of Chongqing College Humanities, Science & Technologies as a vocal (CVT/UVS) /songwriting/keyboard/band research coach and pop music history teacher. In my job as a teacher in China, I taught bachelor students from year 1 to 4 and pre-college students in secondary education. In addition, I introduced my students to the global music industry in combination with business and the creative perspectives within it. Including supervising individual and group projects, theses, and mentorship. In addition to teaching, I was responsible for designing the curriculum and outlines for two courses to support educational innovation within the university. I was also active as a guest lecturer in Academic English in Music at the Conservatory of Chongqing Institute of Foreign Studies.

Currently, I also work as a music teacher teaching singing/band/songwriting/groups from primary schools to music academy in Utrecht with MuziekRoute, Vocal Arts Academy, and Aslan Muziekcentrum in Amsterdam.

My mission as a teacher is to help my students explore and find their own music styles and enjoy music.

AS A CREATIVE PROFESSIONAL

Besides being an artist and an educator, I have developed myself as a creative professional specifically in branding, and marketing for different clients such as brands, artists, museums, etc to help them expand their target group.
